Frequently asked questions page
What types of mattresses can be found at The Mattress Shop Stores?
The Mattress Shop Stores are mattress specialists, and carry a full range of mattresses, and ensembes (mattresses and bases). Not one single type or brand of mattress or bed is right for every person, so we stock all types of price ranges and technologies. We also have a full range of prices, from $150 mattresses right through to $5000 ensembles.
Do I have to spend a fortune to get a good bed?
No. But the old adage is true 'you get what you pay for', and this is true in bedding as it is in anything else in life. Find a reputable brand, do your research and ask around. Having said all this 'a fortune' means different things to different people.

What happens if I don't like my mattress?
An overwhelming majority of consumers will love their new bed, especially if they have taken the time to look for the right mattress and have bought a good quality one. Some companies and retailers offer an exchange program - be certain to check the fine print! Changeovers usually incur additional fees such as delivery and require a swap for a mattress / bed of a greater value. These 'exchanges' are limited in time and require waterproof mattress protection too.
Will a goodmattress fix my back?
The science of backcare is enormously complex. There is a wide range of factors that influence why individuals may have back problems, and the mattress you sleep on is just one part of that jigsaw puzzle. It would be commonly agreed that beds can only care for posture whilst using them for the eight or so hours a day when they are used. It is fair to say that a good bed is an important part of correct posture and wellbeing. Buying a quality bed from a recognised manufacturer is a safe bet. Don't accept claims that a bed or mattress will 'fix' your back problem, and if a retailer or manufacturer claims this ask for it in writing. |
How long should my mattress last?
10 years is a good rule of thumb. Whilst you may get longer usage from your mattress than this, hygenically speaking and for the sake of continued comfort in your sleeping life, it is a good idea to change over around this time, or perhaps even less.
What does the guarantee cover?
All beds and mattresses should be covered by a manufacturers guarantee. A common industry standard is 10 years. This covers the spring system and other components used in the bed given normal usage of the bed - ie: the bed being used for a bed. Damage to your mattress from uses other than the intended usage are rightfully not covered (say ... a trampoline or couch etc).
What happens if I have a problem with my bed?
The company that manufactures your bed or mattress is usually who offers the guarantee. They have the responsibilty to follow up on consumer guarantee issues. However, if you retain your reciept, a good retailer can assist you with your concerns. |
